Trump Leads Biden in Swing States - New Poll

In a recent survey released this week, former President Trump has garnered more support than President Biden in seven crucial swing states that are anticipated to play a pivotal role in the upcoming election, according to the Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll.

Trump Leads Biden in Swing States - New Poll

The states in question—Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, and Wisconsin—reveal Biden trailing behind Trump when respondents were asked about their hypothetical support in a general election. The poll showcased a notable percentage of respondents expressing reservations about Biden's age, while a significant portion deemed Trump as potentially dangerous.

Across all seven states, the survey indicated that 48 percent of voters would back Trump, whereas 43 percent would support Biden. North Carolina displayed the most substantial lead for Trump, with a 9-point advantage over Biden, securing 50 percent support against Biden's 41 percent. This state, won by Trump in the 2020 election, was the only one where the former president attained at least 50 percent support in the recent survey, with neither candidate securing a majority in the other swing states.

Notably, Trump maintained a 6-point lead over Biden in Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, all of which Biden had won in 2020. The margins were narrower in Wisconsin and Michigan, both won by Biden in the previous election. In Wisconsin, Biden trails Trump by 4 percentage points, and in Michigan, the gap is 2 percentage points, with Trump at 46 percent support and Biden at 44 percent.

Bloomberg News highlighted that, overall, approximately 8 in 10 voters across all states perceived Biden as too old, while nearly 6 in 10 labeled Trump as dangerous. Interestingly, voters were more inclined to describe the former president as mentally fit compared to the incumbent.

Conducted online from Feb. 12-20, the Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll surveyed 4,955 registered voters across the seven swing states. The margin of error for all seven states was 1 percentage point as a whole. When analyzed individually, the margin of error ranged from 3 percentage points in Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, to 4 percentage points in Michigan, North Carolina, and Wisconsin, and 5 percentage points in Nevada.

These poll results follow the 2024 Michigan presidential primary, where both party front-runners emerged victorious in their respective contests.
